EthioDeploy vs Render

Render and EthioDeploy are both container hosts with managed databases and background workers. The differences are pricing shape, payment options and the AI agent built into EthioDeploy.

Which should you pick?

Pick Render if

  • You want a wider set of service types, including cron jobs, private services and workflows.
  • You want a larger team on one flat workspace price.
  • You're comfortable paying by card.

Pick EthioDeploy if

  • You want to pay in Birr by bank transfer, or by card, on the same plans.
  • You want an AI coding agent that works on your repo in a sandbox and opens a pull request.
  • You want a small, simple set of plans without workspace tiers.

Questions

Is EthioDeploy an alternative to Render?

If you want a simple container host with managed Postgres or Redis, workers, local Birr payments and a built-in AI coding agent, yes. If you need Render's wider service types, Render is the better fit.

Do both platforms sleep free apps?

Yes. Free apps sleep when idle on both. Render's free instances spin down after 15 minutes of inactivity, and EthioDeploy's Free plan sleeps after 30 minutes.

Can I run a Telegram bot or queue worker?

Yes. Set the service type to Background Worker on EthioDeploy, which skips the HTTP health check and domain routing.
